  • CTCleanEnergyOptions lets you support the production of more clean energy through a small additional charge on your bill.

The CTCleanEnergyOptions Program is approved by the CT DPUC and is completely voluntary.

CTCleanEnergyOptions vendors do not provide generation services.  Instead, they purchase renewable energy credits to match the amount of electricity used by participating customers. This supports existing clean resources and encourages construction of additional renewable generation.

So you must still choose a supplier or remain with CL&P or UI for the generation portion of your bill.

There are two options offered under this program:

100% Option :   adds 1.3 cents per kWh to your bill.*
50% Option:      adds .65 cents per kWh to you bill.*

It's important to know whether you stay with CL&P or UI or choose an electric supplier that everyone can participate in the CTCLeanEnergyOptions Program.

This means you can both choose an electric supplier and support more clean energy by enrolling in the CTCleanEnergyOptions Program.

All billing is done by CL&P and UI, so you still receive one electric bill.

*Business customers can select from additional percentage options.
